Joins
A join combines two shapes: the host, which holds the join in its modifier stack, and a target, the shape it joins with. The join stays live: move, scale or edit the target and the host follows. Joins are added like the other modifiers, see Adding a modifier.
| Join | Page | What it does to the host |
|---|---|---|
| Union | Boolean | Adds the target to it |
| Difference | Boolean | Cuts the target out of it |
| Intersect | Boolean | Keeps only the part inside the target |
| Slice | Boolean | Splits it in two along the target; both pieces stay, as two shapes |
| Emboss | Emboss & Engrave | Raises its surface where the target passes through it |
| Engrave | Emboss & Engrave | Sinks its surface there |
| Carve | Carve | Cuts a pocket the shape of the target, grown by an offset; the target keeps rendering in the pocket |
The seam of a join can be rounded with its Blend, see Blending.
