Chisel

Remove every modifier whose target has gone missing, from every selected Chisel object, in one click.

The red rows

A Boolean, Emboss, Engrave or Carve modifier needs a target shape. Delete that shape, or unlink it from every collection, and the modifier can no longer do anything. Its row in the Chisel Modifiers panel turns red and reads Difference: (no target), Engrave: (no target), Carve: (no target). The same happens when you add one of those modifiers from the panel menu and never pick a target.

Clean Mods removes all of them at once. Every other modifier (mirrors, arrays, deformers, booleans that still have their target) stays where it is.

Where it lives

  • Object Properties → SDF: the Clean Mods button, right under Clean
  • Right-click menu: Clean Mods, after Clean
  • Pie menu (Q): the unlink icon beside Clean in the North wedge
  • Chisel Modifiers panel: in the options menu (the three-dot button), after Delete All

How to use

  1. Select the Chisel objects.
  2. Click Clean Mods.

The report tells you how many modifiers were removed from how many objects. When nothing selected has a broken row the button is greyed out, and its tooltip explains why: “Select a Chisel object with a red (no target) modifier first”.

Clean or Clean Mods?

What it acts onWhat it removes
CleanThe selected operands: cutters and stampsThe modifiers on their parents that use them, then unparents them and makes them solid
Clean Mods (this page)The selected hosts: objects carrying modifiersOnly the modifiers whose target is gone

Use Clean to keep a cutter as a shape of its own. Use Clean Mods to remove the rows deleted cutters left behind.
