title: Standard Shapes
order: 1
---

The ten standard shapes take their size from the object. They switch into one another with `[` / `]`, see [Changing the type](../index.md#changing-the-type-after-creation).

| Shape | What it is | Its own settings | Rounding |
|---|---|---|---|
| [Box](box.md) | A box | | **Rounding**, all edges |
| [Oblong](oblong.md) | A box whose side edges and rims round separately | | **Bevel** (side edges) and **Cap Rounding** (rims) |
| [Ngon](ngon.md) | A polygon of any shape, extruded | corners, **Depth** | per corner, and **Rounding** for the rims |
| [Trapezoid](trapezoid.md) | A box with a smaller top | **Cap** | **Bevel** and **Cap Rounding** |
| [Prism](prism.md) | A regular prism | **Sides**, **Angle** (3 sides) | **Bevel** and **Cap Rounding** |
| [Sphere](sphere.md) | A sphere | | none |
| [Cylinder](cylinder.md) | A cylinder | | **Rounding**, the rims |
| [Cone](cone.md) | A round taper | **Cap** | **Rounding**, the rims |
| [Capsule](capsule.md) | A cylinder with round ends | | none |
| [Torus](torus.md) | A ring | **Major Radius**, **Minor Radius** | none |

## Size and scale

A standard shape fills its object's bounding box: scale the object and the shape follows. [Rebuild Mesh](../../operations.md#rebuild-mesh) bakes the scale into the shape's own size and sets the scale back to `1`.
